A Wedding & A Naming Ceremony!

Over the past few weeks I have been busy getting two new card designs ready, for two events that took place this weekend just gone. The first was a family wedding and the second was a Naming Ceremony, for my hubby's friend's baby girl. Unfortunately both events were taking place on the same day at the same time, so we couldn't attend both but thoroughly enjoyed the wedding which we did attend.

It was the first family wedding that we had attended since our own, so that it itself bought back some lovely memories. The wedding was between my Uncle's step-son and his Fiancé and took place at their local church in Bognor. Luckily even though it was a little overcast the weather did just about hold out for them, and they managed to get some lovely photos both in the grounds of the church as well as at the local park.

Everyone had a great time and it was also lovely to get all of the family together, as unless there is a family event or its Christmas it doesn't tend to happen very often.

As you can see from the photos above the main colour scheme was teal, so I used this within the colours of their wedding card below. See what you think.

Now onto my second design which as I mentioned was for a Naming Ceremony:

I was quite pushed for time to get both of the images done in time for their events, so I was rather pleased with myself that I managed it. I got the colours onto both the sketches within a day which is pretty good for me, as I don't think that I have ever managed to get two designs done in one day!

The plan is to put both of these cards up for sale on my Etsy shop within the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled both on my shop and my Bobby Bunny & Friends Facebook page.

I hope that you are all having a good week! We are half way to the weekend and the weather is looking pretty good here now that the smog has gone. I hope that it is looking good for you all too! x

Finished Wedding Card Design for Richard & Becky!

Once again it has been pretty hectic here over the last few weeks, mainly in the work department. This time of year is our busiest since the schools are off, so I have been putting in extra hours and getting to work earlier plus leaving later in order to get everything done! Hence why I have not had whole lot of time to do much else. I have however just had the last two day off, which were much needed.

I had a nice chilled day yesterday having catch up coffee, and shopping with my mum. This left me with today to get on and finish the wedding design that I showed you in my last post.

The design hasn't changed much since the initial sketch; I have just given it the odd tweak here and there.

The main challenges with this design were trying to get the white dress and veil to show up enough against the white background, and trying to keep the characters looking consistent in each image. This is something that I have been struggling with for a while now, which I am getting better at but I think that it is something that is going to come with practise.

For the image itself I decided to go with a country wedding type theme, as this is what the couple in question are having, and I have also used their turquoise colour scheme. Overall I am quite pleased with the outcome, and I now I just need to mock it up into a card. Which hopefully I shall be able to do sometime over the weekend.

I hope that you are all having a good week! Do enjoy your weekend whatever you may be up to and thank you for visiting. x

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I hope that you have all had a lovely day, whatever you may have been up to. I have spent the day with the hubby's family and our three gorgeous nephews. We had a lovely roast cooked for us, with plenty of Easter treats for dessert. All in all it was a relaxing and enjoyable day which was much needed, since I have had to work most of the bank holiday weekend and again tomorrow. No such thing as bank holidays in the land of retail!

On another note since I have been out of the loop of blog land for the last week or so, I must update you on the wedding design sketch that I featured in the last post. The design was finished on schedule and the movie themed wedding that the card was designed for took place just over a week ago now. It was a beautiful day that was enjoyed by all, the highlights of which included: The Bride and Groom walking out of the ceremony to the Star Wars theme tune, the groom and best man speeches, the girls that were on the hen night including myself performing a flash mob style dance in our pink ladies jacket to a mash up of all of the Grease hits, and towards the end of the night the men serenading the bride to you've lost that loving feeling in tribute to the film Ghost. The weather even though overcast and windy held out for most of the day, not that it really mattered too much though as it was all held indoors at the same venue.

So onto the update of the wedding card design itself! As you saw in my last post the initial sketch worked out quite well. I then went onto colouring it and there were a few moments when I wasn't sure if the design would work out or not, particularly when it came to deciding how best to crop the background for the layout of the printed card. I also had some issues with deciding which text would also look best within the printed layout, but I think I pulled it off in the end.

Aside from these minor issues I did really enjoy making my design up and putting it into print as it had been a while since I last did this. Plus it was also the first time that I had printed out my cards using my new logo design on the back.

For the card size itself I settled on a square format measuring 13.3 x 13.5cm which is generally my favourite card layout to use, as it tends to work quite well with the proportions of my work. Plus I think it looks a little more modern and interesting than standard sized cards.

I then used a thick good quality card stock with a canvas texture to print the design. Again I tend to use this when printing my cards, as I find that this finish presents my work in the best way and gives it a professional look.

Once printed I then cut to size and finished off the design with some glitter accents. See what you think of the final outcome below.
