Sunshine & Storms!

We have been having some beautiful weather around here lately, with weeks of sunshine and temperatures up to the 30's. Which for those of you who do not live in the UK probably doesn't sound that hot, but for us it is quite something! Truth be told it has been a little too warm for my liking, but still I can't complain as it's definitely better than rain!

So on my day off last Friday I thought that I would make the most of the lovely weather by going down to Brighton with my best friend who was down from University, along with some of her Uni friends who had never been to Brighton before.

 

We had a lovely day shopping down the Lanes, walking through the grounds of the Pavilion, playing in the Amusements, and eating Fish and Chips on the Pier. We then went to a few bars as one of the many summer storms that we had towards the end of the week, and over last weekend began to roll in.

The evening was then finished off by us spontaneously going clubbing, then watching a spectacular lighting storm out at sea on the beach in the early hours. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any pictures of the lighting storm as the battery on my camera had run out by this point, but it really was amazing like nothing I had seen before. There was no rain, no thunder, just this spectacular light show out at sea. It was quite something considering we very rarely ever get thunder storms, spring or summer!

Besides going to Brighton there is not a lot more to report from the last few weeks really. Project sort out the flat is still slowly taking place, and work is beginning to get much busier as we come into our peak trading time of the year. So all in all I am not getting much time to blog or to get much illustrating done at the moment, but please do bare with me as I do have many Bobby Bunny projects that are waiting to be created.

 

My Naming Day cards are also proving to be selling well this week, with two of them being for Evie's for Naming Ceremony's taking place this weekend. Which I found to be bit of a strange coincidence since they were both for events in different areas of the country, plus I am also going to the Christening of an Evie this weekend too!

Time Off & Back To Reality!

I mentioned in my last post that I was midway through my first of two weeks off of work, and what a lovely chilled out two weeks they were. But it's been back to work and back to reality again this week!

I did manage to get a lot of what I wanted to get done in my weeks off though! During my first week I mainly chilled out as my hubby was off too so it was nice to spend some together, as with me working Saturdays we usually only get one full day together.

Luckily we had some lovely weather that so I took my hubby for a walk down to my usual bunny spotting place. We ended up going further than I usually do and took a route past my usual place, which took us out the other side of the fields and through a housing estate where we then came across a farm who's land was open to the public.

We walked through the fields for hours and then along the river walk on the way back, we saw a few Pony's but it was mainly just open countryside with amazing views over the town. It's crazy to think that I have lived here all of my life and never even knew that the place existed. That's on of the things the I love about where I live, we are so close to town and everything that we need but equally we are surrounded by such beautiful countryside that you can feel like you are in the middle of nowhere within minutes. I have put together some of the photos from our little outing below:

The heavy erosion on the roots of the trees along the river walk was quite apparent and not helped by the bad weather we had last winter. As it turned out they are about to close off and regenerate the river walk within the next free months due to the excessive erosion caused over the winter.

The second week of my time off I mainly spent tidying and de-cluttering the flat! I think that I have mentioned before that I am a bit of a hoarder, and the flat has been in need of a sort out for sometime but prior to now I have not had the time to get my teeth stuck into it. I have still got the bedroom and my studio to go, but the living room and kitchen are looking much fresher now and are much nicer places to spend time in!

The only other thing that I have to report is that we have kind of found a temporary solution to the washing machine issue! We had the plumber round and it seems that the problem with the pressure is in the wall between us and our neighbour as their water pressure is fine, which means that it is an issue that the managing agents of the flat will need to sort. It’s going to be a bit expensive job for them though so it may not be happening anytime soon, so until then I am having to fill the washing machine up manually which isn’t ideal but is still quicker and more convenient that having to go to my parents to do it!

I am currently writing this whilst watching the end of the Glastonbury Festival, which I have watched a lot of over the weekend and it is really making me long to go to a festival again! Usually I have the same two weeks that I have just had off each year to go to Download Festival, which I have mentioned before but this year is the first in five years that I have not gone and I have really missed not going. The reason that my friends and I decided not to go this year was because we had seen a lot of the bands before, and a band that we really want to see are playing Reading Festival in August so we have decided to give that a go instead. I really hope that it is as good as Download is as typically the weather was really good for Download this year. For me there really is no other experience like going to a music festival! Unfortunately I can’t do the whole five days of Reading like my friends due to it being our peak trading week at work, but I shall be joining them during the weekend instead which is better than nothing!

Busy & Bunnies!

I am not quite sure where the weeks have gone over the past month or so since I last blogged but they definitely seem to have flown by! Things have been busy around here as usual not only with work, but our washing machine also broke a few weeks ago so I have been spending most of my days off going around my parents to get our washing done and dried. Hence why not a lot else has been getting done including blogging!

I thought that ordering and fitting a new washing machine would be quite simple, but it has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare!

 Firstly it turned up and I ended up having to spend a few evenings bashing holes in cupboards, which I wasn't expecting as the pipes for the new one needed to be higher than the old one.

Then I was rather proud that I had successfully managed to plumb in our washing machine myself and get all working, only to find that it didn't work properly because we don't have enough pressure coming in from our cold tap to make it able to do a whole cycle. This is a problem that we didn't have before as our other washing machine was so old that it ran through a hot and cold feed, whereas modern washing machines only run on a cold feed. So I now have a brand new washing machine that currently I can only look at until the landlord sends in a plumber to sort out the problem, so the washing at my parents goes on.

On the plus side we went and saw a financial advisor the other weekend to find out if we are any closer to being able to afford our own property, and it seems like we are getting there which has made us more hopeful.

We have our flat lease until the beginning of next year, so our aim is to be able to get out of out worn out little flat and find something before then. We were really hoping to be able to get a two bed house, but with the way that the prices are going up around here at the moment that is looking less likely.

Two bed houses in the area are currently going for about £235,000+ at the moment, with all of the new builds of the same size that are currently being built going for £300,000 upwards, so you can see what we are up against. But so long as we can get on the property ladder and find a property big enough to start a family in we will be happy.

So after weeks of my head being filled with washing machines and mortgages I decided last Friday that I just needed a day to myself to go and clear my head, so as it was such a beautiful day I went down to my favourite bunny spotting site to see if I could see any this time.

You may remember that I mentioned going down there in my post "Crisp Sunny Days" earlier in the year and didn't see any. In fact I haven't seen any since my post "Snowy Walk," but this time I was definitely not disappointed! Warning this part of my post is a little photo heavy!

 

 So firstly I saw two little squirrels playing together and thought, well at least if I don't see any bunnies I have seen some form of wild life!

 

 

Then I spotted these little babies in my usual bunny spotting place, enjoying the freshly cut grass. This was about as close as I could get to them without scaring them off. But the some nice man saw I was taking photos and decided to deliberately walk right by them and scare them all away. So my plan B was to go over the railway bridge and see if I could spot any more!

 

 

At first I couldn't see anything but then I spotted these two little ears poking up above the grass in the distance.

 

 

Then the more I looked the more I began to see! The bunnies on this side of the bridge were even more skittish the ones in my usual spot, so it took a lot of time to slowly creep up to them and read their body language in order to get photos. 

 

 

As I sat very still over time more and more bunnies came out to play! 

 

 

I was really lucky to get so close up to this little baby. I had been trying to get a shot of him for a while, and kept walking down the hill and creeping back up again to try and get a close up. But as I crept up to within a meter or so towards him rather than run off he just froze, at which point I realised that there was a lady with a dog on the other side that was eyeing him up. So at this point he was probably terrified, but it meant that I managed to get within a couple of feet of him in order to get this picture before he ran off.

 

 

 

After this I noticed that there was a big collection of bushes that was right by where I had been taking the photos that had overgrown with an archway in between, so I decided that it would be the perfect hiding place to try and get some more close ups. As you can see it worked a treat and after a bit of waiting I found myself looking up the hill at some bunnies in the distance, when I looked back I realised that this bunny above was right in front of me just outside the bush, I think that I was more surprised to see him that he was to see me! In fact I don't think that he ever even realised that I was there, and that is how I managed to get my shot of the day! He stayed there for a few minutes so I got to take in every detail of this beautiful creature, before he hopped off. I don't think that I have ever been this close to a wild bunny before but it was a wonderful experience.

 

 

After this I continued to watch the bunnies from my little hide out, and this baby bunny appeared. It took him a while to get his confidence to come out but he did eventually.

 

I wanted to try and get another cloue up of a baby and then this little one appeared, again  getting pretty close to me and basking in the sun. He was definitely more aware of me being there than the previous bunny though. 

 

By this point I had been bunny spotting up the hill for over three hours, so I thought that I should start to head back. On the way though I stopped back at my usual spot and found these two very chilled out bunnies!  

 

Along with this little one who was enjoying the grass. I thought that he looked so cute as he moved along putting his little  bun in the air. He was also quite playful and had mad moments where he would run about and jump in the air!

Needless to say after my little bunny spotting adventure I was definitely feeling a lot more chilled, and I am planning on keeping this up further as I now have two weeks off of work. This week with my hubby and the next on my own. During this time I am hoping to get a lot  done, both with tidying the flat, drawing, and hopefully launching a new bobby bunny product!

Easter & Birthday Round Up!

Hello everyone, it's been a while! It's only been a month since I last blogged, but it feels like years! Work has been pretty hectic lately with training courses and presentations taking up a lot of my time, but it is all over with now and I can finally get back to catching up with what I like to do best; my illustration and blogging!

As it has been a while since I was last on here I shall give you a roundup of what has been going on at the Bobby Bunny & Friends headquarters, apart from training courses and presentations!

Firstly Easter! Unfortunately I spent the whole Bank Holiday weekend working, but I did manage to have some family time on Easter Sunday. We went to the hubby's dad's for what was meant to be a Easter Egg Hunt for the kids and a barbeque, but after having lots of lovely weather recently it decided to buck it down with rain. But as un-deterred as we Brits are when it comes to the weather, we had a barbeque under some big gazebos and the kids still had the Easter Egg Hunt in the rain, which with kids being kids they loved! I also ended up with a lot of Easter eggs from my parents and family, as every year my mum makes up my sister and I Easter bags with lots of little treats!

Now for birthday times! The 23rd of April St. George's Day falls on my birthday. This year I had the day off and spent it with my friend and her twins, then in the evening I went out for a family meal with my mum, dad, sister and hubby to a local Inn. I had a lovely day and was thoroughly spoilt, getting some money for our savings and lots of gifts, many of which involved bunnies as you can see  below; along with all of my Easter eggs.

 

Walk around Worthing! So that brings me to this weekend just gone! Again I was working most of the Bank Holiday weekend but I had Sunday off. So since it was a lovely day I went down to Worthing with my parents, for a nice walk along the seafront and had fish and chips and a 99. I managed to get a few pictures too as you can see below:

 

I then realised in the evening that I had caught the sun a little too, which I wasn't expecting as even though it was bright it didn't feel particularly warm, but I think that the sea breeze must have masked it. So I am now a bit red and have some dodgy tan lines going on!

So that brings me pretty much up to date now! This week I have just been catching up with, illustrations, e-mails and blogs. I have had a few card orders to sort out too, one of which was a bespoke giant wedding card which posed a few challenges as I only have an A4 printer, but I managed to get around it in the end and you can see the results on my Facebook page.

I have also now finally listed the new wedding design that showed you in my last post on my Etsy shop, rather later than I intended but it is there now and the Naming Day card will be up by this evening. Sorry for the delay!

I hope that everything is good with you all, and that you too enjoyed Easter and the Bank Holiday weekends. A Wedding & A Naming Ceremony!

Over the past few weeks I have been busy getting two new card designs ready, for two events that took place this weekend just gone. The first was a family wedding and the second was a Naming Ceremony, for my hubby's friend's baby girl. Unfortunately both events were taking place on the same day at the same time, so we couldn't attend both but thoroughly enjoyed the wedding which we did attend.

It was the first family wedding that we had attended since our own, so that it itself bought back some lovely memories. The wedding was between my Uncle's step-son and his Fiancé and took place at their local church in Bognor. Luckily even though it was a little overcast the weather did just about hold out for them, and they managed to get some lovely photos both in the grounds of the church as well as at the local park.

Everyone had a great time and it was also lovely to get all of the family together, as unless there is a family event or its Christmas it doesn't tend to happen very often.

As you can see from the photos above the main colour scheme was teal, so I used this within the colours of their wedding card below. See what you think.

 Now onto my second design which as I mentioned was for a Naming Ceremony: 



I was quite pushed for time to get both of the images done in time for their events, so I was rather pleased with myself that I managed it. I got the colours onto both the sketches within a day which is pretty good for me, as I don't think that I have ever managed to get two designs done in one day!  

The plan is to put both of these cards up for sale on my Etsy shop within the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled both on my shop and my Bobby Bunny & Friends Facebook page.

New Mother's Day Design and Sunsets!

Evening all! I hope that you are well! I just thought that I would hop in quickly to show you my new Bobby Bunny design. This design is especially of Mother's Day and features Bella bunny handing her mummy some flowers, after she had been digging around the garden to find them. She is also trying (not very successfully) to conceal the evidence of this behind her back!

I have made this card especially for my mummy, but it will also be going on sale in my Etsy shop shortly.

Whilst I am here I would also like to share with you a few pics, of some of the beautiful sunsets that we have been having here over the past week or so. The quality of the pictures is not great as they were taken on my very old camera phone, plus the ones on the left were also taken on a moving train on my way back from a work trip in London. The ones on the right were taken on a different day whist I was walking home from work.

Sitting on the train looking at these lovely scenes I was thinking about how beautiful sunsets are and how I don't know anyone that doesn't like sunsets. Thinking of this then brought back one of my earliest childhood memories. I was only about two at the time and had been to the park with my mum and some friends on a lovely summers day. The sun was setting as we left and the sky was very orange, I remember vividly what it looked like. Then after seeing it I just remember sobbing, I was absolutely distraught because I didn't know what a sunset was and thought that the sky was on fire! I then remember my mum's friend having to carry me home and comfort me, as my mum was heavily pregnant with my sister at the time. I think the fact that I got myself in such a state is probably why it stuck with me, strange child that I was! I makes me laugh thinking about it now, but I certainly wasn't laughing at the time!

Crisp Sunny Days!

I have mentioned on here before about how much I love the cold and crisp sunny days that you get in winter, but we haven't had many of these at all this winter with the all of rain and mild conditions.

 

However the weather seems to have finally taken a turn for the better over the past week or so, and we have had some lovely and much needed cool sunny days! So I thought I would seize the opportunity on my day off, and go for a little walk in the countryside. I also though that the fresh air would do me good, as I am currently getting over a head cold and this was the first day that I had started to feel better. 

 

I decided to go for a walk down behind the church where the hubby and I got married as it's a lovely place to go, so still and peaceful yet only a five minute walk from where we live. When you are there it's strange to think that you are literally just a few minute's walk away from the town centre, as it's so quiet and all you can see for miles are rolling fields.

 

I was hoping to see some bunnies but unfortunately as lovely as the weather was, there were too many dog walkers about for them to come out and play.

 

It was however not a wasted trip, as firstly I came across three little ducks playing in the river:



 

I can only assume that being the time of year; the male Mallards were both trying to pursue the female. Even though they did all seem to be getting along quite amicably at the time.

 

It would be nice if some little ducklings have appeared by the next time that I go down there!  



 

There were also plenty of Daffodils, Crocus's, and Snow-Drops, to name a few of the flowers that I saw coming into boom. Adding some much needed colour to the scenery and signifying that spring is definitely on its way!

 

 

In amongst the flowers and signs of spring though, the damage that the storms and rain have brought this winter were still very much apparent.

 

I hadn't actually walked down here since the storms and bad weather started at Christmas. So I was quite surprised to see how many big trees had fallen down in this part of town, as there weren't any that had fallen in the large park nearby.

 

I think that with a lot of them the ground has just been so wet that it couldn't hold their weight anymore and had just given way.  

   

 

I also got to catch a glimpse of the Jay bird that I mentioned saw way back in my Snowy Walk post, but this time I did actually manage to get a half decent image of him. I don't know if it was the same one as it was a fare while ago, but it was in pretty much the same placed as before so I like to think that it was.  

 

 

The final things that I saw on my walk apart from this lovely scenery were a couple of Buzzards that I managed to catch gliding over the railway bridge where I was standing. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any shots of them as they were moving too fast and were too high up to capture, but it was lovely to see.

 

I spoke to a lady who was walking her dog just after and she had noticed them too. She said that she walks that way every day and had never seen Buzzards around there before, so I felt quite lucky to have seen them. It was definitely a good ending to a nice walk in the country!
