Finished Wedding Card Design for Richard & Becky!

Once again it has been pretty hectic here over the last few weeks, mainly in the work department. This time of year is our busiest since the schools are off, so I have been putting in extra hours and getting to work earlier plus leaving later in order to get everything done! Hence why I have not had whole lot of time to do much else. I have however just had the last two day off, which were much needed.

I had a nice chilled day yesterday having catch up coffee, and shopping with my mum. This left me with today to get on and finish the wedding design that I showed you in my last post.

The design hasn't changed much since the initial sketch; I have just given it the odd tweak here and there.

The main challenges with this design were trying to get the white dress and veil to show up enough against the white background, and trying to keep the characters looking consistent in each image. This is something that I have been struggling with for a while now, which I am getting better at but I think that it is something that is going to come with practise.

For the image itself I decided to go with a country wedding type theme, as this is what the couple in question are having, and I have also used their turquoise colour scheme. Overall I am quite pleased with the outcome, and I now I just need to mock it up into a card. Which hopefully I shall be able to do sometime over the weekend.

I hope that you are all having a good week! Do enjoy your weekend whatever you may be up to and thank you for visiting. x

Sketching Sunday!

I have had a relatively chilled out weekend this week, compared to those of recent weeks. Firstly I have had both Saturday & Sunday off of work, which doesn't happen often these days, and secondly I have had nowhere to go & nothing to do today. So I have finally had the first chance in a while to sit down and do a bit of Bobby Bunny sketching, which I must say I have missed! This is what I have come up with so far:

It's just a rough sketch at the moment which still needs some tweaking. But once finished it is going to be a wedding card design for some close friends of mine, that are getting married in mid September. So far the image has gone pretty well and flowed out quite easily, so hopefully it will continue that way!

I hope that you have all been having a good weekend, and that you haven't been having too much rain or stormy weather! We seem to have been pretty lucky here and have missed the storms and flooding that have affected a lot of the country this week. Only having had some rain yesterday and overnight, which on the plus side has meant that the air is feeling much less muggy. But whatever the weather where you are enjoy the rest of your evening and the week to come. x

Project Decorate Twins Room!

Hello there! I am still here and have not disappeared off of the face of the universe; I have just been caught up on a big project for the last few weeks! As you can see from the post title, the project has involved decorating the bedroom of my friend’s two and a half year old twin boys. Which is something that we have been planning on doing for a while now.

It took us a while to decide what to paint as she wanted something that was going to be suitable for their age, but that wasn't too babyish that they would outgrow it. We also didn't want to go for anything too complicated, as we didn't have much time to do it in. So we put our heads together and came up with a range of ideas based upon things that the twins like from farm animals, to Dinosaurs and Disney characters, but we finally settled on jungle animals.

After coming up with the theme we then had to decide on how we were going to do it, and which colours to use. My friend came up with the idea of doing animals as silhouettes and found some reference images online that she liked. We than played around and adapted the designs to what we wanted, and decided to use a limited colour pallet to stop it getting to complicated & expensive. Then we were ready to go.

My best friend who is currently at university also doing a similar Graphic Design and Illustration course to the one I did, also came down for the day to help. Between the two of us it took about four hours to draw out the designs, but the painting took much, much longer that we had expected.

So what was going to be a couple day job, turned out to be five days worth of 12 hour days plus a couple of evenings. Unfortunately my best friend was only down from university for the day, so I had to finish it off along with the twins mum on my days off.

But we got there in the end and are all very pleased with the results. The twins also absolutely loved it and instantly wanted to move back into their room. Seeing their little faces light up definitely made all of the hard work that we had put into it worthwhile. See what you think of the results below:

Now that the room is finished I am just trying to catch up with everything blog land, and with jobs in the real world! Before then getting on with some new Bobby Bunny projects.

I hope that you have all been well and getting as much sunshine as we have here. The weather has been glorious for the last few weeks now, which has meant that there has been plenty of lovely barbeques with family and friends. I just wish that we had a garden of our own in weather like this, but maybe one day!

Before I go I must show you these lovely flowers that I had sent to work which was a big surprise. Especially since I had no idea who would be sending me flowers, as my hubby had no reason to. As it turned out they were from my friend with the twins as a thank you for doing the bedroom. Which was a lovely gesture especially since I had already been paid for it.

I hope that you all have a lovely week, and that the sunshine lasts for you all. But I do hear that there may be storms on the way, lets hope not though! x

Back from Download!

Hello everyone! I'm back after having a fabulous time at Download Festival once again! I was hoping to blog after I got back last Monday, but it's taken me most of the week in between work to catch up on jobs, washing, e-mails, and sleep! Five days of partying definitely took its toll on me after I got back, but I am just about recovered now! I am also pleased to say that for the most part the weather did hold out for us, with just a few short heavy showers mainly on Sat, but it was still warm so we dried of pretty quickly. I even ended up catching sun a bit which was nice. I have to say that for me lying in the sun and listening to live music is just blissful. So as nice as it is to be back I do have a bit of the festival blues at the moment!

In other news, now that I am pretty much back to the normality of the real world, I am hoping to start getting some more Bobby designs on the go over the next few weeks. My working rota has settled into a bit more of a routine now, and I am hoping that I will be able to get stuck into some new projects very soon, so watch this space!

I hope that everything has been ok with you all while I have been gone, and that you are all having a fab week. I will leave you with a few pics from Download Festival 2013! x

Off To Download!

We have had some lovely weather here in South East England over the past week or so. Unfortunately it has not been quite as nice over the past few days, which is typical considering that I am off to Download Festival tomorrow.

For those of you that don't know Download is the biggest rock festival within in the UK, and is held at Donnington Park in the Midlands. It's a festival that I love and that I will be attending with friends for the fifth year running. The atmosphere is always amazing and it's full of lovely people and great music. I always view it as a holiday, as even though the festival runs from Friday to Sunday we shall be camping on site for five days. For that reason I have my fingers crossed that the weather will be ok, as even though it's always fun good weather makes all the difference! Last year the weather was the worst that we ever had with lots of rain, mud, and wind for the whole time we were there, so I am hoping that it shall be better than that as least. It currently looks like we shall be having sunshine and showers, so fingers crossed there will be more sunshine than showers!

Right I am off to finish packing now, but I shall leave you with a few pics from previous Downloads. Have a good week, I shall be back on Monday. x

Mocked Up Butterfly Dreams Thank You Card!

Once again it has been a busy old week here at Bobby Bunny Headquarters! I have mainly spent my time working and attending a course associated with my new role, which so far seems to be going well. The downside to this though is that not much illustrating has been going on, but this should change once I have settled into my new routine. I have however found the time to mock up my Butterfly Dreams card, as you can see below.

After being pretty pleased with the outcome of my "New Baby Boy" card design, I wanted this one to follow the same style. Again I used the 250gm canvas effect linen card to print on and used a pretty heart button, sewed on with taupe thread as an accent. I have to say that I had fun shopping for the right button and think that I may be getting a button fetish, as came away from Hobbycraft with quite a few different button designs to use on future cards. Again I am pretty pleased with the results, and now also have some plastic wallets and envelopes to package up my cards. So once I have a few more designs, I hope to be able to start selling them in the not to distant future.

I hope that you all have a lovely week, and that the weather is being as kind to you as it is to us at the moment! x

Butterfly Dreams!

I can’t believe that it has been a couple weeks since I last blogged! Things have been pretty busy here since my week off, particularly at work. I have mainly spent my time preparing for a promotion interview, which has been in the pipe line for a while now. I have to say that I was pretty nervous about it to say the least as it has been a long time since I was last interviewed. However I am pleased to report that it all went fine, and that the hard work and stress paid off as I got the job!

Obviously I am very pleased about this not only because I felt that I would be good for the role, but also because it's more hours and better pay. This means that the hubby and I can now feasibly begin to save for a mortgage deposit, rather than rent again. It's going to take us a few years or so to do, but I feel like we have a goal to aim towards now and that we are moving in the right direction to eventually having a family.

The role of the job does mean that I will have to work every Saturday, but I will still get Sunday's off and two full days in the week to draw. So really it will give me the best of both worlds, as having full days off rather than my current half days will mean that I can properly settle and get my teeth into a project from start to finish.

On another note, in amongst all of the business I have managed to get a new illustration done, which is going to be used as thank you notes for my birthday. The image features Bella bunny looking up at a butterfly as you can see below:

The image is taken from a sketch that I did back in 2010 which I have been meaning to work it up into a finished image since. So I thought that using it as a thank you card would be the perfect opportunity.

Back when I did the original sketch I named it Butterfly Dreams, I think because I felt that it was quite a dreamy scene. The image is pretty much the same as in the original sketch I have just updated the face shape, so that it is more in line with the style that I have used in my more recent work. I am pretty pleased with the outcome so now just need to mock it up into a card and it will be done. As always any feedback you may have will be much appreciated.

I hope that you all had a fab weekend, whatever you got up to and that you all have a good week. Thanks for dropping by! x

Mocked Up New Baby Boy Card for Joshua!

I thought that I should get round to posting the card mock up of my New Baby Boy design that I showed you a couple of posts back. So here it is:

We met up with the new parents of baby Joshua last weekend and had a catch up and lots of cuddles with the gorgeous little man, which I have to say made me more than a little broody! They loved the card design and prezzies that we bought them, which consisted of: A Jellycat ellie rattle ring, a Gisela Graham "cute as a button" photo holder, and a lovely Olly & Belle muslin cloth; which I chose because it had blue star's on it to match Bobby's baby grow. I also found an Emma Bridgewater "Starry Skies" gift box to put it all in, again to keep with the star theme.

I have to say that I am glad that they liked the card, as I am  pretty pleased with it too. It's the first time that I have mocked up a card and felt that it is exactly the way that I would like the range to look. It took a lot of fiddling around with fonts, colours and sizes to get the look and feel that I wanted on the finished card, but I got there in the end.

I don't know if you have noticed the little sewn button detail, but this was a little addition that I made to the design after I had given the card to Joshua's parents. The version that I gave them had little sparkly star stickers on it, as I felt that I needed something to finish the design. But even though I liked the design that I gave them, I still didn't feel that it looked quite right. So I started thinking what else I could use to enhance the design, but not over power the image. I tried a bow, but thought that it was a bit girly, and other baby related items such as bottle stickers etc, were to over powering and distracting against the image. Then inspired by the "the cute as a button" gift that we gave Joshua I thought buttons! I was originally going to use blue ones, but the pearl looked more subtle. Then I was going to glue them but thought that sewing them with a coordinating thread might look better & so it did! Ta dah the design was done.

Like my movie themed wedding card design featured in my Happy Easter post. This card is printed onto 250gm canvas effect card and measures 13x13.5cm.

I hope that you have all had a good week and for those of you that are in the UK, I hope that you are enjoying the long Bank Holiday weekend. The weather has been lovely here all week, which worked out nicely as I was off work. I was intending to clear out my spare room/studio and get lots of drawing done, but it was just too nice to stay indoors. So I spent most of the week catching up with friends and spending time in the park with them and their children.

Hopefully the weather is being kind to you too and enjoy the rest of the weekend! I'm back to work tomorrow, but after having the week off I can't really complain about working on a Bank Holiday. x

Birthday Times!

I am pleased to say that the better weather that began to come our way last week, fully showed itself at the weekend with temperatures up to 20 degrees at times, positively tropical compared to those of late. I was particularly pleased about this as it was my birthday weekend, and it was one that didn't disappoint.

I started off going shopping with my mum and nan in Chichester on Saturday for a few pre birthday goodies which was lovely, as I don't often get the chance or have the finances to go shopping. Before then going out in the evening for drinks and a dance with a few of my close friends. On Sunday I went up to Croydon to celebrate my hubby's nans 80th birthday, and had another enjoyable day with his family, so it was a busy weekend all round.

My actual birthday was yesterday St. Georges Day. Once again the weather was beautiful so I spent the morning with a friend and her two year old twin boys at the park. I then had to work in the afternoon, but went out for a lovely meal in the evening with my family. I was thoroughly spoilt and got all sorts of prezzies and cards from family and friends, especially those of the bunny variety as you can see below.

New Baby Boy Card Design for Joshua!

I am not sure where the last few weeks have gone since Easter, but they just seem to have flown by! Within these weeks I have spent most of my time working extra shifts at my retail job, as Easter is meant to be of our peak times of the year. However since the weather hasn't been to fabulous to say the least we were actually still pretty quiet. But now the schools are back I have returned to my usual shift pattern, which has meant that I have had some time this week to embark on a new card design.

A close friend of my hubby's has just had a new baby boy so I thought that I would make a new baby card for them. I set about sketching a few ideas and different poses, and eventually settled on a sleeping Bobby pose. I have been working on the image on and off for the last few days or so and have just finished it, so I thought I would share it with you!
Luckily it has turned out exactly as I hoped it would, as you never really know how an image is going to turn out until it is finished. Now I just need to fiddle about with design and composition for the actual printed card, and it shall be ready to be posted. Hopefully that will happen within the next few days and I will pop a photo on when it is finished.

I hope that you are all having a lovely week, and I am pleased to say that so far this week the weather seems to finally be looking up! We have had some lovely sunny days and even when it's been wet it has been much warmer, so I am hoping that spring shall be here to stay very soon! x
